This Miraculous Cream Is a Must-Have for Extremely Dry Skin

Due to the arid climate here in Utah, lack of humidity can become problematic once winter arrives. Cold, dry air strips your body of moisture, leaving you with extremely dry skin — causing itchy, flaky skin, irritated noses, cracked or bleeding cuticles, and itchy legs and arms.

For me, the biggest issue is dry, cracked heels! It’s been an issue I’ve dealt with for years, and it only gets worse during the wintertime.

Several years ago, when I was dealing with a foot wound that stubbornly refused to heal, I went to see a wound specialist. While I was being treated, the doctor noticed what bad shape my heels were in and recommended a cream that ended up being the “miracle cure” I needed for painful, cracked heels!

While I generally prefer using natural or homemade solutions, this stuff has a permanent place in my medicine cabinet. It’s been so helpful that I simply had to share it with all of you, in case your heels are in need of some healing too!

The “Miracle Cure” for Dry Skin

This “miracle” cream is Atrac-Tain Moisturizing Cream, and it’s primarily used for wound care. It’s not generally carried in pharmacies (not that I’ve seen, at least) but you can order it online. It costs around $15-20 for a 5-ounce tube, but a little goes a long way, and honestly it’s worth every penny!

I am constantly amazed at how well this cream works, so I did a little research to find out why. The main active ingredients in Atrac-Tain are urea and AHA. Urea is a chemical compound found in urine (though this cream, thankfully, uses a synthetic version), and it acts like a moisture magnet that attracts water to dry skin cells.

The other active ingredient is AHA (or alpha hydroxy acid), a skin care ingredient made from fruit, milk, or sugar cane. It penetrates dead skin cells and loosens the molecular bonds that attach them to the underlying tissues, encouraging them to slough off to expose the newer skin underneath.

For those who suffer from dry, cracked heels like me, or wintertime skin dryness in general, urea and AHA make a powerful duo for revitalizing dry, injured skin and restoring it to a softer, more moisturized state.

If you don’t believe me, check out the reviews on Amazon! You can read page after page of people RAVING about this stuff, including people who with eczema, lymphedema, and other skin conditions. Personally, I feel like I’ve tried everything under the sun for dry skin, but nothing has come close to how well this works on my dry heels.

How I Use Atrac-Tain for Cracked Heels

I start by washing my feet, preferably after soaking for a while to soften up the dry skin.

Then I slather Atrac-Tain cream onto both feet, pull on a pair of clean socks, and go to bed. That’s all there is to it! Using it regularly will give you the best results, but you will likely notice a difference after just one night. Use nightly until your dry skin is gone and any cracks have healed, then use as needed.

I know there are other dry skin and cracked heel sufferers out there like me, so I couldn’t wait to share this! I don’t want anyone to suffer needlessly when this little “miracle” is so readily available. Time to find your happy feet (and hands) again! :-)
